Where the word ROBOT came from

Did you know the word ROBOT is of Czech origin? Really. Czech writer Karel Capek used this word for the first time in his play R.U.R. - Rossum's Universal Robots (1920). But he is not the true inventor, it was his brother, painter Josef Capek, who came up with these five letters. This was likely the first contribution to the robotics community comming from Czech Republic. See also here
